Growing Icicles Costs Money

How, you might ask?

Icicles are formed when liquid water runs off of your roof and hits sold ice and freezing air. That part is all well and good( well dangerous too), but, where did the liquid water come from?

It's melted snow and melted ice. How does it melt? From the heat escaping from your roof and walls. And of course, heat escaping means energy loss which means money out the window ( or through the roof!)
